The Vernon Parish School Board met at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019, with Steve Woods absent.
The Board voted to approve the September 5, 2019, minutes, to adopt a resolution to approve the consolidated and general fund budgets for 2019-2020; to advertise for propane for Evans, Hicks and Simpson schools, to accept employee retirements, to approve leave without pay, to approve budget amendments related to personnel changes, to authorize the president and his secretary to pay claims.
The Board approved the policies and policy updates, approved a resolution in support of Interstate 14 as part of the Gulf Coast Strategic Highway Project - this has been requested from the City, the School Board and the Police Jury.
The Board approved a promotional contract for Rosepine High School Assistant Principal.
Tammie Allardyce was recognized as employee of the month following her appointment as the district payroll clerk in recognition of the work she has done both in her new position and keeping up with her previous job until it is filled.
Mr. Kay presented the school safety initiative showing that they are researching the viability of both the RAVE Panic Button promoted by the Louisiana State Police and the Instant Verification System. Both work along similar principals allowing teachers to notify administrators in the event of an emergency.
