The Vernon Parish Police Jury meeting met at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2019.

Robin Stewart addressed the Jury to discuss the state of Ford Stewart Road.

Road work began last Monday, but following the rain this weekend, Ms. Stewart made a video showing the road in it's entirety for the Jury to review.

Ms. Stewart said she had asked for an audit of the work done since January 1, 2019, and was unable to find where anything had been logged in reference to 12 loads of reclaimed asphalt that had been donated for use on Ford Stewart Road. The agreement by the Jury and the Public Works department was that 15-18 loads had been used, more than had been originally donated.

Juror Kenny Haymon and Jury President James Tuck reiterated that there is a 3 year plan and they are working to implement it as soon as weather permits. Road Foreman Darnell Martin was reported to have said work could begin the end of this week or early next week.

The jury presented committee reports from the meeting last Monday, July 8, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., with notable highlights being a proposal from Durable Piling Restoration LLC for the bridge on Fullerton Blacktop Road, otherwise known as Boundary Bridge in the amount of $36,500 to be paid by District 5 pending receipt of a grant from the National Forest Service. They also approved accepting a quote from Pat Williams Construction in the amount of $24,750 for a new Boat Ramp at Bevins Landing and a quote from GMT Services LLC in the amount of $3,720 for new doors with keypad entry at the VP Health Unit.

The millage rates for 2019 were adopted by roll call, all present voted yes, Jackie Grimes, David Brister, and Bo Cryer were absent. The new mills are are posted above.

Resolutions adopted include accepting Ironclad LLC to conduct survey/title work and to accept CBRE Inc. to conduct appraisal work for the HMGP acquisition project; to accept the agreement between Louisiana Housing Authority Corporation and the VPPJ for Emergency Solutions Grant Program; and to enter into an agreement with the USDA, Forest Service, Kisatchie National Forest to make repairs to Boundary Bridge on Fullerton Blacktop Road.
