Vernon Parish, La - Terry Lambright, District Attorney of Vernon Parish reports the conviction of Delon Quinell Swafford 42 of Leesville.
Swafford’s trial began on Monday March 13, 2023 where he was facing 5-counts of drug related charges. At approximately 4:00 p.m. on March 15, 2023 a 12-person jury, after a short deliberation, found Swafford guilty of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than 14 grams, possession of fentanyl less than 2 grams, possession of cocaine less than 2 grams, and guilty of morphine less than 2 grams.
The trial was held in Division C of the 30th Judicial District Court and presided over by the Honorable Judge Scott C. Westerchil. Swafford will appear before Judge Westerchil on June 01, 2023 for sentencing. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Wayne Bush.
“I am glad the juror’s paid close attention to the evidence in this case. This defendant was selling drugs in our community and has multiple prior felony drug related convictions. Anyone selling drugs in Vernon Parish will be prosecuted. I want to make Vernon Parish a safe place to live,” said Lambright.
