Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft reports that a local dance studio and apparel store made a complaint regarding employee theft by two former employees.

An extensive audit was conducted by the owner of the business and it was found that in excess of $112,000 worth of merchandise inventory was missing, as well as in excess of $38,000.00 in cash payments to the store. It was learned that the two employees would tell customers that the credit card machine was not working, thus forcing the customer to pay cash, which was collected but not included in the daily deposits. Customers would then be given an adding machine tape as a receipt in lieu of a hand written receipt for merchandise purchased as required by the store owner.

Gwenda Williams, age 54, of New Llano, was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft over $25,000.00 Bond has not been set and Williams remains in the VPSO jail.
