DeRidder native Tim Temple announced yesterday that he will be running for Commissioner of Insurance in the fall elections.

Temple has been involved with insurance in Louisiana for 25 years in positions that range from a neighborhood insurance agent to insurance executive dealing with recovery from the BP oil spill.

Temple's priorities include addressing the fact that Louisiana has the highest rates in the country, recruiting insurance companies to come to Louisiana and increase competition and represent both the rate payers and the industry.

Temple is running as a member of the Republican party - the same party as the incumbent Jim Donelon. Donelon has been the Commissioner of Insurance since 2006. Temple will kick off his campaign with a state tour beginning in his hometown of DeRidder.
