It would be difficult to forget this report.
On July 17, 2018, Hannah Barker attempted to convince law enforcement that something had happened at her home – one report said two men came to her home and sprayed her with something that might have been mace, a different report said she had fled her home to escape men at her home.
Both stories ended with her 6 month old son being reported as missing.
The child, Levi Cole Ellerbee, was found soon after, badly burned on Myrtle Street in Natchitoches by the railroad tracks.
The investigation determined that Barker was in a relationship with Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith and had asked Smith to kill her child.
Both Barker and Smith were arrested and are being tried separately on charges of first degree murder.
On August 1, 2019, The State of Louisiana filed a Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty against Hannah Barker for her part in the murder of her child. The justification being the perpetration and attempted perpetration of cruelty to juveniles, that the crime was committed in an especially heinous, atrocious and cruel manner, and, that the victim was under the age of 12 years old.
