Vernon Parish, La - Yesterday evening, at approximately 6:00 PM the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police Troop E, and EMS personnel responded to an E911 call of a single vehicle crash in the area of the intersection of Hwy 8 and Hwy 28.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 2015 GMC pickup truck in the tree line off of the road. Emergency response workers removed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, whose identity is unknown at this time, and he was transported for medical care. His condition is unknown.

The vehicle was traveling on Hwy 8 towards the intersection of Hwy 28, when for reasons still under investigation, the driver failed to stop at the intersection, and crossed both westbound lanes, and eastbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle then went into a ditch on the east side of the roadway, traveled up an embankment, and into a tree line.

After an hour of recovery efforts, the towing and recovery company was able to remove the vehicle from where it came to rest following the crash, and the scene was cleared.

This crash remains under investigation.
