In the Leesville City Council meeting yesterday afternoon, the City Engineer reported that due to the recent amount of rains the road repairs have slowed down. The projection is that they will be back next week to finish the area on and around Jean Street.

The area will be paved before they move on to the next section. Mayor Rick Allen asked abut the drop-off at Fertitta and Jean Street and was told temporary repairs would be requested.

The DeRidder City Council elected new leaders at the end of the meeting Monday night. Keith Hooper was unanimously voted to remain the Council President. Things got a little stickier when it was time for the vote for Vice President.

There were 3 nominations made: Julian Williams, Randy Larkin, and Michael D. Harris. However, no second made for the nominations of Julian Williams or Michael Harris, leaving Larkin as the only candidate. For the vote it was decided 4-3 the Randy Larkin will be the new DeRidder City Council Vice President.
