Gaona's ex-wife reported the event to the police on July 14, 2019, after she discovered inappropriate texts between his step daughter and a 12 year old male classmate. Further investigation revealed texts with the step-father that were sexual in nature.
The child was taken to The Garth House in Beaumont for forensic interviews where she revealed the details of the contact. When asked to estimate how many times it had occurred the answer was “too many times to count”.
