On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, McNeese Police received notification that inappropriate and potentially unlawful imagery appeared in the background of an online class presentation by a faculty member.

With the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, the McNeese State University Police obtained a warrant, signed by Judge Sharon Wilson, for the arrest of Steven Stinnett for four counts of pornography involving juveniles. Stinnett was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center with a $100,000.00 bond.

McNeese President Dr. Daryl Burckel has placed Stinnett on administrative leave pending the outcome of the University’s investigation.

McNeese Police is continuing to work in cooperation with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department on the criminal investigation.
