City of DeRidder Mayor Misty Clanton spoke to the Legislative Commerce Joint Committee this afternoon as part of the investigation into Suddenlink.

Prior to Mayor Clanton, the Senators and Representatives grilled SuddenLink's representatives regarding the number of employees on the ground to restore service, the plan for recovery, the lack of communication between Suddenlink and community leadership as well as with customers, and their overall lack of customer service.

Suddenlink's representatives were unable to provide adequate answers to any of those questions.

When Mayor Clanton spoke, she was adamant about discussions with Suddenlink over the last ten years for expansion into the rural areas that have been repeatedly denied, the obvious lack of repairs and the lack repairmen on the ground in DeRidder, and the closing of our Suddenlink office and the impact that has on our community.

Mayor Clanton stated the fact that in this century, connectivity is life, safety, and health.

Mayor Clanton ended with a request for coverage in all areas and for SuddenLink, and other online companies to be held accountable.
