Just after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a three vehicle crash on Highway 6 East of Robeline, LA.

A 2019 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Mack Calhoun, 90, was westbound on Highway 6 when he lost control and crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane.

A 2016 Freightliner (18-wheeler) attempted to avoid the crash by steering to the right, but the Dodge collided with the left rear tires of the trailer.

The Dodge continued westbound in the oncoming lane and collided head on with a second 2016 Freightliner.

Calhoun was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Both drivers of the 18-wheelers were restrained, however the second Freightliners driver received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Routine toxicology tests are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
