KJAS in Jasper, TX, and Daily News and More in Hemphill, TX, report that game wardens, firefighters and deputies in Sabine County, Texas rescued two Leesville men late Monday morning, October 7, 2019, at Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Melvin Pitts and Vernon Travis said they had been fishing and were headed back to shore after the cool front moved into the area. Their boat motor stalled; leaving the men adrift. With no cell signal, they were unable to call for help and the growing waves eventually flipped their small boat. Both men were wearing floatation devices and were able to make their way to nearby stumps where they held on until they were noticed and 911 was called.

Following the rescue they were evaluated by Sabine County EMS and released.
