The City of Leesville City Council met yesterday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Leesville City Hall with all members present.
Mark McCarty gave the City Engineering update stating that the water tank near the Junior High needed to be demolished and replaced. Age and damage had taken its toll and had made the tank structurally unsafe. He is planning to have prices for replacement at the meeting on August 26, 2019.
Payments were authorized in a total amount of $24,799.45 related to bills for the Runway Safety Area Improvements and $159,381.50 for the DWRLF Improvements Plan.
The Council passed a resolution allowing the Mayor to sign and execute a least purchase agreement for financing equipment.
The Council approved a resolution to allow a one time temporary alcohol permit for the Leesville Main Street – Change of Main Event and Piccadilly Auction on August 24, 2019.
The council approved a resolution to allow the Mayor to sign and execute a contract between the city and Vanguard Utility Service Inc. to replace water meters.
The Council voted to approve travel reimbursements for the 82nd LMA convention in Monroe, LA.
The Council approved a resolution allowing the placement of a 4 way stop at the intersection of 3rd Street and Lee Street in an effort to slow down traffic.
During the Mayor's comments, he asked permission to allow candidates to use his time to speak to the council. Sam Fulton and Phillip Hunt introduced themselves and made brief statements to the council.
