On December 4, at 4:49 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department received information that a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Florida was being held captive by a 30-year-old man in a motel room on MacArthur Drive in Alexandria.

The suspect was also reported to be with his female cousin and her small child, and had reportedly said if he was contacted by police, he would kill the 14-year-old.

Officers from Patrol Shift Delta identified the motel room; made a controlled, stealth approach to the motel; then contacted the motel management and obtained a layout of the premises in order to form a plan to make contact with the suspect.

Officers first made contact with the female cousin and her child, who were walking outside the motel rooms, and escorted them to safety.

Patrol officers then located the male suspect standing on the balcony outside his room. They were able to make contact with him and convince him to come down the stiars where he was taken into custody without incident.

The officers were then able to make contact wit the 14 year old girl who was inside the room. It was determined she was safe despite minor injuries.

All parties were brought to APD Headquarters to be interviewed. During the investigation, officers discovered that the suspect, identified as Jonathan Gibson of Lillian Alabama, had raped the victim on multiple occasions.

Gibson was charged with 2nd Degree Kidnapping and four counts of First Degree Rape.

He was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked.
