On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a shooting in the Kellyland subdivision near Alexandria, LA.
According to witnesses, the suspect Sampson De’shon Piper, 19, of Alexandria, LA, allegedly robbed the victims at gunpoint during which an altercation ensued and Piper allegedly shot one of the victims.
The injured victim managed to flee the residence and with the assistance of a neighbor contacted 911. Deputies arrived, secured the area and rendered aid to the victim pending the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
Piper was quickly located and taken into custody without incident. The victim and Piper were transported to separate local area hospitals for treatment relating to their respective injuries sustained during the alleged robbery.
Warrants were granted for Piper’s arrest in reference to One Count – Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, One Count – Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, One Count – Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Two Counts – Armed Robbery, and One Count – Obstruction of Justice. Upon release from the hospital, Piper was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center in reference to his warrants. Piper is currently being detained at the detention center in lieu of posting a $175,000.00 bond.
The victim is in stable condition at a local area hospital.
