Hicks Lady Pirates 2021

Hurricane Laura crashed into the State of Louisiana on August 27, 2020, leaving a wide path of destruction in her path. Houses, businesses, and schools all received some level of damage. Hicks High School took the most damage of all the schools in Vernon Parish, and their gym was destroyed when the entire roof was ripped off. Damages required the Hicks Basketball teams to travel to neighboring gyms around the area for practices and games. Despite everything that was presented with Hurricane Laura, that did not stop the Hicks Lady Pirates from winnings their 3rd consecutive State Championship. This season, still without their own gym, they are working for a 4Peat. Coach Mike Charrier and the team submitted a video to Powerade and Family Dollar for a chance to win $5000 in the More Power To Your School Program, following review of all the videos submitted from across the country, Hicks High School was selected to receive the $5000 reward. These funds will be used to cover the costs of travel for both practices and games and to assist in funding an enclosed trailer for use at all school activities. This is a huge accomplishment for the girls and proves you can accomplish mighty things with enough hard work and determination.
