There are no COVID numbers to report today due to electronic difficulties, but Gov.John Bel Edwards announced at his press conference that hospitalizations are down to 714 across the state and there are 90 on ventilators. This is the first time since March 23 we've been under 100.

While the numbers have been looking good, Gov. Edwards stresses that citizens need to maintain distancing, hygiene practices and wearing masks.

The state will be submitting the testing plan to the federal government office of Health and Human Services.

Gov. Edwards stated that just over 11% of all tests run have been positive, the goal is to get the number below 10%' To do this they plan to test over 200,000 per month, and achieve monthly statewide testing. The hope is to attain 4% per parish in the testing process. Currently there are 41% of the parishes over 4%, 20 parishes at 2-3.9% and 3 parishes that remain under 2%, which he specifically names as Beauregard, Cameron and Vernon Parishes.
