Governor John Bel Edwards held a press conference Tuesday, January 12, 2021, as the latest mandate ends on January 13.

The state of Louisiana will remain in the modified stage 2 for another 28 days until February 10, 2021.

Hospitalizations are up to 2,015, with 244 on ventilators.

There were 4,673 new cases of COVID-19 today with 53 new deaths across the state.

These are being directly linked to holiday activities where mitigation methods were not followed when people gathered in groups outside of their normal household.

Gov. Edwards calls for citizens to follow the mandates –

  • wear a mask,
  • keep 6' distance from those who do not live in your household,
  • stay at home if you aren't well, and
  • wash your hands.

Employers are asked to allow as many workers as possible to work from home.

159,690 vaccines have been distributed and 21,652 residents have received the second dose.
