On May 11, 2020, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a home invasion in Hayes at about 3:00 a.m.
The victims claimed two suspects approached the residence armed with firearms and attempted to enter. One of the suspects confronted the victim and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
With assistance from the CPSO Real Time Crime Center, the investigation identified Frances S. Wright, 20, 3814 Swanee Street, Damonte J. Batiste, 20, 4200 Worthy Drive, Trenisha A. Gray, 17, 1608 Clover Drive, Myrical M. Nelson, 22, 1608 Clover Drive, Leroy D. Jones, 18, 1743 Broadmoor Drive, and Joseph L. Collins, Jr., 22, all of Lake Charles as suspects.
On May 18, CPSO Violent Crimes detectives and the Anti-Crime and Tactical Team located all of the suspects except Collins. They were arrested and booked into the CCC and charged with armed robbery; armed robbery with the use of a firearm; and home invasion. Jones bond was set at $200,000, the others were set at $90,000.
A warrant has been issued in the amount of $90,000 for Collins arrest. He is charged with armed robbery; armed robbery with the use of a firearm; and home invasion.
It was revealed that the victim is an acquaintance with at least one of the suspects.
