Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office has released information that at approximately 1:34 a.m., on Sunday, August 11, 2019, they received notification of shots fired at a club located in the area of Billy Goat Hill, that there was a victim suffering from a gunshot wound within the establishment and that at the time of the call the whereabouts and identity of the shooter was unknown.
Sheriff's Office Deputies, Leesville Police Officers, and New Llano Police Officers responded to the establishment and immediately secured the scene.
A male victim had been shot in the calf and two other victims had left the establishment and gone to Fort Polk to seek medical treatment for gun shot wounds. Fort Polk Military
Investigators were contacted regarding the victims headed for BJACH – it was determined both of them suffered gun shot wounds to their ankles.
The male victim still at the scene was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
It was determined that Andrez Shamad Jones was the shooter, and that the disturbance began inside the bar and eventually moved into the parking lot. Witnesses indicated that Jones was involved in the disturbance and escalated the situation by going to a vehicle and obtaining a firearm. When attempts were made to restrain Jones, he began recklessly firing towards the crowd causing them to flee. It is believed that Jones fired no less than 6 rounds into the crowd.
A 9mm firearm was taken into evidence and Andrez Shamad Jones was arrested and charged with three counts of Aggravated Second Degree Battery with a Firearm and one count of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm.
Bond has not been set and Jones remains in the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office jail.
