Fort Polk

A defense budget bill passed by the U.S. House recently would give troops stationed at Fort Polk a 2.4 percent pay raise.

Official notification from Fort Polk confirms that there was a training accident yesterday morning in the box involving a HMMWV rollover. A Special Ops soldier was killed in the accident, a total of 11 others were injured from several military units. Names will not be released until 24 hours after the next of kin notification. The investigation of the event involves multiple Army agencies. We will pass along any further information as it is received.


One soldier was killed and 4 soldiers with the Nevada National Guard were injured in a roll over training accident early yesterday morning the the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk. The injured were members of the 72nd Military Police Company, Nevada National Guard out of Las Vegas. The name of the deceased will be released by the US Army after the family has been notified. The cause of the accident is under investigation. We have reached out to the Fort Polk Public Affairs office and will share information as it becomes available.
