Early voting for the December 5th election begins today and runs through November 28th, with the exception of Nov. 22nd (Sunday), as well as Nov. 26th and 27th (State Holidays for Thanksgiving). You can vote at your Parish's Registrar of Voters Office from 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM each day.
Statewide on the ballot is CA NO. 1 (ACT 10, 2nd ES - SB 44), which would allow an out-of-state resident to serve on a public postsecondary education board of supervisors. If passed, the Governor would be able to appoint a person who resides out-of-state to serve as an at-large member of a public postsecondary education board of supervisors.
In Vernon Parish, a 10 year renewal of a 7.92 tax mill is on the ballot. This tax mill has been passed each time since 1980, with the proceeds going to fund the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office. There are also mill renewals on the ballot for providing funds for the Vernon Parish Public Library System, the Vernon Parish Courthouse and Courthouse Annex Building, and for maintaining and constructing Parish roads and bridges within Vernon Parish.
In Beauregard Parish, there is a Parishwide 2.42 mills continuation with proceeds of the tax to be dedicated and used to acquire, construct, improve, maintain and/or operate the public health units and other related public health activities in the Parish. Also, the District 4 Justice of the Peace is on the ballot with Julee Godeaux Lafluer and "Danny" Reeves running.
Allen Parish has 33rd Judicial District Court Judge on their ballot, with Judi Abrusley and Chad Guidry being the two candidates. There are also multiple School District mill renewals for the purpose of constructing, operating and maintaining public school houses and buildings within the specific Districts up for renewal. District No. 2 has a 9 mills Fire Protection renewal on their ballots.
