Ricky L.(51) and Priscilla L. (48) Cooley of DeRidder were arrested last Wednesday, October 2, 2019, following an investigation by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

Ricky Cooley was hired to harvest timber by an absentee landowner on a 50 acre tract in Vernon Parish. The investigation discovered 34 loads of timer the Cooley's allegedly concealed and failed to make payment to the landowner. The timber stolen is valued at $36,094.87.

The Cooley's were booked into the Vernon Parish Jail with bond set at $25,000. The bonded out of jail on Thursday.

If they are convicted of theft of $25,000 or more, they could face a fine and / or imprisonment at hard labor.
