The DeRidder City Council met at 5:30 last night in City Hall. All members were present.
5 years certifications for service in the public works department were presented to Dwight Hickman and Tyler Snider.
An ordinance was introduced to authorize a special exception use for Damaryz and Luis Estevez to place a Class B Mobile Home on their property on Rouss Street which is currently zoned R-3 Multiple Family Residential District. The public hearing date is August 26, 2019.
An ordinance was introduced authorizing special permission for Schanell Wright to place a Class B mobile home on her property at Los Angeles Street, currently zone R-3 Multiple Family Residence District. The public hearing date is August 26, 2019.
Also introduced were: An ordinance pertaining to amending Chapter 4 Article I Section 4-3 of the code of ordinances dealing with permits. The public hearing date is August 12, 2019.
An ordinance amending chapter 14 Article 22 Section 14-31 of the code of ordinances dealing with truck routes. This public hearing date is also August 12, 2019.
Lastly an emergency introduction was made to allow the mayor to set up an optional heath-care agreement for employees with Basic Pacific. This was voted on and approved unanimously.
Public hearings were held for the rezoning of land on Highway 190 that is planned to house a new nursing home facility. Discussion was held regarding the use of Bilbo Drive to provide one area of access, the ramifications of having access placed on highway 190, and how delivery trucks would be able to access the facility.
The next 3 ordinances dealt with city codes. The first one deals with codes to be adopted, the second one was regarding fire lanes and the last one deals with fire protection within the city.
The last discussion was held was regarding an ordinance related to the burning of garbage and trash.
All ordinances discussed were adopted unanimously.
