At approximately 10:30 this morning, Wednesday, February 27, 2019, a loaded log truck was headed west on Shirley Street when a north bound tanker on N. Pine Street failed to yield for the red light at the intersection.

The resulting crash caused the log truck to overturn, losing the load of logs into the “front yard” of First United Methodist Church of DeRidder.

The tanker truck came to a stop next to the Church's gym and main office.

Both driver's sustained minor injuries and were taken to Beauregard Health Systems hospital.

Damages to the church appear to focus on the loss of the sign that was on the corner and cosmetic issues due to the loss of shrubbery.

The intersection remained partially closed to north and south bound US 171 traffic and Shirley Street was closed during the investigation and clean up.

This is the same area where an accident caused the water loss to the City of DeRidder Saturday night.
