Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Coushatta, LA man near Robeline, LA on Friday, September 6, 2019, in connection with the theft of a vehicle, and weapons in Sabine Parish according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

About 8:30 a.m. the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office asking deputies to be on the lookout for a blue 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck that had been reported stolen in Sabine Parish. It was believed that the stolen truck also contained stolen firearms and was traveling toward the Robeline, LA area.

A tip was received that the vehicle was at a tire shop on Highway 120 near Robeline, LA and that the driver had traveled from Marthaville, LA on a flat tire.

When Jay Austin Behannon, 24 of Coushatta, driver of the truck, was contacted by the NPSO deputies he told them he was borrowing the truck and would return it after he was done.

Bohannan was arrested without incident. During a search, methamphetamine was discovered in Bohannons pockets. An inventory of the vehicle also led to the recovery of a Remington 12-gauge shotgun and a Mossberg .410 shotgun in the bed of the truck. The owner of the vehicle and firearms met with deputies at the scene to recover the items.

Bohannon was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 2-counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine.

Bohannon remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond, however, additional charges are pending through Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office.
