The City of DeRidder City Council met at 5:30 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019, in the Council Chambers at DeRidder City Hall. All members were present except Councilman Larkin and Councilwoman Scott.
Misty Martin addressed the Council regarding this past weekends Walk for the Cure. Following exceptional tshirt sales and sponsorships and an increase in the number of survivor shirts presented, the DJWC is projecting an income of around $40,000 less about $5,000 in expenditures. These funds will be used to assist local families dealing with cancer.
Rose Godfrey, Co-Pastor of God's Temple of Refuge addressed the Council regarding work being done by the Gas Company replacing lines and the pot holes left behind, as well as asking for the speed bumps in front of the church to be reworked or replaced.
James Herbert was recognized for his recent graduation from the FBI Academy.
Tommy Landry was appointed as the Director of Public Works, and Roy King appointed as the Director of Utilities.
The only ordinance introduced authorizes the city to enter into a business associate agreement with Southeastrans, Inc. The public hearing is set for October 28, 2019.
