The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Monday, November 25, 2019, that they have received multiple calls stating residents have been receiving telephone calls by subjects claiming to be BPSO detectives. The “detectives” then claim that the answering party did not submit to a DNA test or register as a sex offender within the parish and demand a fee via VISA gift cards or threaten the answering party with being arrested.

The Sheriff's Office wants everyone to know that this is a SCAM. They do not conduct business that way and they request everyone to be diligent when speaking with strangers over the telephone, especially when money is requested or demanded.

Please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 337-463-3281 if you feel that you’ve been a victim of a scam or have questions/concerns on this subject.
