An Alexandria man has been arrested as the investigation into last week's explosion on MacArthur Drive continues.
Daniel Dewayne Aikens, 37, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, as a federal prisoner. No charges have been provided at this point.
Federal, state and local law enforcement had Tennessee Avenue blocked off on Tuesday as they appeared to be searching at least one house that area.
Daniel Dewayne Aikens was led out of the federal courthouse in downtown Alexandria around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in handcuffs by U.S. marshals. Aikens does have a criminal history in both Grant and Rapides parishes and has a court date tomorrow in Collfax.
It is believed that the explosion on Thursday, January 2, 2020, was a failed attempt at extortion.
