On July 13, 2019, and on August 3, 2019, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies were called to scenes where ATM machines had been stolen from Westlake banks.
The initial investigation revealed that the thefts were related and over $150,000 had been taken from both ATMs.
At that time 6 members and affiliates of the Brothers East (B*EAST) Outlaw Motorcycle Gang were reponsible for both thefts. Melvin Cupp, 46 of Spring, TX; Brandon Hightower, 33 of Humble, TX; Hosea Owens IV, 28 of Alvin, TX; Joshua Leroy Fontenot, 44 of Denham Springs, LA; Christopher Scott, 44 of Lake Jackson, TX; and · Faith Breaux, 27 of Beaumont, Texas were all apprehended between September 23 - 26, 2019, were arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle over $25,000; theft of a motor vehicle $5,000 to $25,000; 2 counts of simple criminal damage to property $1,000 to $25,000; theft less than $5,000 over $1,000; 2 counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; obstruction of justice; simple arson; 3 counts of criminal trespassing; 4 counts of unauthorized entry of a place of business; 4 counts of theft over $25,000; 4 counts of simple criminal damage to property; unauthorized entry of a critical infrastructure; and racketeering.
Since then, it has been discovered that Michael L. Cupp, 44 of Datyon, TX, and the leader of the B*EAST Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, was also involved with the ATM thefts.
On November 12, 2019 CPSO Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit detectives along with FBI Beaumont and Dayton Police Department located and arrested Michael Cupp. He was booked into Liberty County Jail in Texas and charged with racketeering. Bond was set at $15,000.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are likely.
