Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford has released a statement that Deputies with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Sheral G. Zeno, of DeRidder, for one count of Cruelty to Animals just before noon Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

Zeno was booked in to the Beauregard Parish Jail, with bond set at $10,000.00.

The arrest stems as a result of an investigation that began on Sunday, May 17, 2020, when the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in reference to an injured and neglected horse. Deputies seized the animal and contacted a veterinarian to examine the animal in an effort to determine if the animal could be treated for its’ injuries on Monday. Unfortunately, the horse succumbed to the injuries before the veterinarian could arrive.

The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the citizens, rescue groups, and the Humane Society of Louisiana for the outpouring of offers to assist with the horse.
