Beauregard Museum

Marty Young, director of Louisiana State University at Shreveport’s Pioneer Heritage Center, will demonstrate the age-old craft of blacksmithing at the Beauregard Museum starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. Young will do multiple demonstrations through the afternoon or until interest winds down.

This will take place in the “flag plaza” at the rear of the depot museum. This event is weather-permitting. This is a unique opportunity to learn the history of blacksmithing and to see it in-person.

It’s free but donations will be accepted for the Pioneer Heritage Center. The museum is located at 120 South Washington Street in downtown DeRidder.

Young has enjoyed doing living history demonstrations for two decades. He was awarded the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2019 Education Award.

For more information on this event, call the museum at 337-463-8148.
